Zayn's tattoo, which he had done on Saturday in LA, shows a microphone in black ink on his lower arm with a wire wrapping around his wrist.

But while Zayn's latest tattoo is an undeniable sign of his passion for music, his bandmates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne – decided to make a joke of it on stage as they performed the LA leg of their Up All Night US tour.

Mid-show, they decided to have a little fun at Zayn's expense as the boys stood on stage holding their microphones in the same position as the tattoo.

Zayn‘s most recent tattoo is also his most outrageous! The One Direction hunk just got a red and yellow “Zap” tattoo. Fans of One Direction immediately started saying the new ink was about his girlfriend and stood for “Zayn and Perrie.” But, Zayn cleared the air and said it was an inside joke with his bandmates.

When you get tattooed, the tattoo ink is dispersed about a millimeter under your skin and remains in a layer called the dermis, which is under the epidermis or the layer of skin you can see. When you tattoo over existing pigment you’re not covering it, you’re actually mixing the pigment of the new tattoo with the old one. As it heals the ink from your new tattoo (the cover up) will have settled into the dermis layer and merged with the old ink. Because of this it’s very important to plan carefully what the design of the camouflaging tattoo will be. I say camouflage to drive home the idea of hiding a tattoo rather that trying to pound black over the top of it to cover it. Black is the easiest way to cover an old tattoo, as well as dark colors like blues and greens, but don’t use them as a crutch. A good camouflage won’t require areas of solid black to cover an old tattoo.

Actress Scarlett Johansson celebrated getting a new tattoo by showing it off to fans.

The 27-year-old actress showed off a new tattoo on her ribcage that features a horseshoe and the phrase "Lucky You."

The tattoo might not look like much, but it was inked onto her side by French graffiti and tattoo artist Fuzi Uvtpk.

We first noticed Scarlett Johansson's wrist tattoo, which she cleverly tried to hide during the press tour of her latest flick "The Avengers," but thought nothing of it until recently when one great camera shot focused in on the tiny inscription.

What did ScarJo choose to ink on her wrist? "I [Heart] New York," of course.

From the distance, the black ink tat on her right wrist is fashioned to look like a bracelet with one hanging charm. But up close and personal, we see that ScarJo shows off her love for hometown city and current residence.

The stunning actress initially tried to disguise her new ink by wearing an actual bracelet on top of the tattoo, making it appear as if she were wearing two bracelets instead of one.

The wrist tattoo is not the first for Scarlett Johansson. She also has an anklet with the letter A on her right ankle, and an etching of a colorful sunrise on her left arm. Her latest is our favorite, but maybe we're just partial to New York.

Until last week, it was generally Harry and Zayn at the front of the queue for getting things permanently etched into their skin and both lads are already covered in different designs.

But deciding to join the club, Louis and Liam each decided to get a little screw on their ankle during a trip to Dublin, leaving Niall the only member of the band yet to get anything done.

Apparently one wasn't enough and Louis has been back in the tattooist's chair this week where he was spotted getting the black doodle inked onto his arm.

While Zayn is always wandering about with a skateboard, we can't say we've ever seen Luigi doing the Bartman. But then again, perhaps he's decided to step away from the sass and embrace his inner badass.

The One Direction singer revealed last week that he had gotten his first inking, along with fellow body art virgin Liam Payne during a trip to Dublin.

The pair had got a small screw sketched on their bodies, to match identical ones gotten earlier by bandmates Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, leaving Niall Horan as the only needle free zone….though even he finally conceded and agreed to get one done soon.

However, it seems that Louis didn’t stop there.

New pictures have emerged of the hunk getting another tattoo, this time a picture of a skateboarding stick figure on his forearm. It was sure to be painful, but the 1D hunk looks pretty pleased with himself, wouldn’t you say?

Like many others, I get sick to my stomach just thinking about a bug or dirt hitting my eye, much less a needle. The idea of eye tattooes just boggles my mind because I just can not understand taking the risk of blindness, infection, puss, etc.. all over a trend.

 A Toronto man has been the first to get an eyeball tattoo. Basically, he has turned the whites of his eyes blue.

Corneal tattooing is usually used for patients that have had trauma to their eye, not for this, which is called body modification.

It took 40 injections of blue ink in order to complete this procedure. Pigment was injected under the top layer of the eye using a syringe. The syringe injected the ink into the eye. At first they had tried a traditional needle with ink on it, but when the ink didn't hold, they switched to the syringe.

The man has reported that all is well so far, but it feels like he has something in his eye.

I can barely stand needles poking me anywhere, but in the eye? I can't even imagine. I wonder what would happen if you decided to change your mind after it was done?

Who here wants to get the world's next eyeball tattoo? Maybe a colorful rainbow would work nicely.

If you (like me) were unconvinced by the tightly cropped, unverifiable pics of what purported to be Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's oversized back tattoo that began floating around last week, you were right to be skeptical. Because it turns out the tat is actually on his chest:

 During Alabama’s practices Tuesday and Wednesday, quarterback AJ McCarron looked as if his injured knee was sore, but not so much that he lost his sense of humor.

In a discussion after Tuesday’s workout about teammate Eddie Lacy’s 73-yard touchdown run against Missouri, McCarron deadpanned that he didn’t want to run all the way down to hold for the extra point.

“That’s probably the biggest thing. ... That was a long run, so I was kind of tired,” McCarron said, looking down, cleary trying to avoid smiling and giving away that he was joking.

Alabama coach Nick Saban revealed Sunday that McCarron has a bruised knee and would feel sore for a day or two. McCarron looked it as he’s participated in drills this week, limping slightly.
