The 19-year-old lad, who is dating Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, showed off the new artwork on Saturday night during their show in California.
Zayn's tattoo, which he had done on Saturday in LA, shows a microphone in black ink on his lower arm with a wire wrapping around his wrist.
But while Zayn's latest tattoo is an undeniable sign of his passion for music, his bandmates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne – decided to make a joke of it on stage as they performed the LA leg of their Up All Night US tour.
Mid-show, they decided to have a little fun at Zayn's expense as the boys stood on stage holding their microphones in the same position as the tattoo.

Zayn‘s most recent tattoo is also his most outrageous! The One Direction hunk just got a red and yellow “Zap” tattoo. Fans of One Direction immediately started saying the new ink was about his girlfriend and stood for “Zayn and Perrie.” But, Zayn cleared the air and said it was an inside joke with his bandmates.
